Real work. Finished.
Work from running operations for a multi-state field services contractor with about 200 field staff and contractors, and from launching its sister company. Client names are withheld.
Federal motor carrier compliance
The job. Bring a multi-state fleet into full federal compliance.
What I did. Built the compliance plan: insurance filing, driver qualification files, a drug and alcohol testing program, Clearinghouse queries and supervisor training records.
The result. Plan accepted. Fleet active and on the road.
Seasonal worker visas (H-2B)
The job. Support the employer's seasonal worker program with numbers that hold up.
What I did. Built a worker-count model from real acreage, work schedules and payroll records to support a crew of 70. For the next season, filed the prevailing wage request months ahead and reconciled two years of payroll summaries to the quarterly payroll tax filings.
The result. The filing moved forward, and next season's paperwork is on schedule for the January filing window.
Multi-state registrations
The job. Keep the company registered and current in every state it works.
What I did. Prepared the state filings, requalification and annual reports, and put every state deadline on one calendar.
The result. Registered and current, with every renewal tracked.
New company launched in about two weeks
The job. Get a new service company ready to sell, fast.
What I did. Name clearance and a trademark search; coordinated the state filing and tax ID; set up QuickBooks with a customer intake, estimate and approval packet; wrote an insurance and licensing study and a 19-company competitor study. Brand: 12 design directions, 15 logo options, a 15-page website, business email and business cards.
The result. From filing to market-ready in about two weeks.
Domain, email and new website
The job. Put the company's domain and email fully in the owner's hands and launch a new site.
What I did. Moved the domain and email from a former web vendor to accounts the owner controls, set up email authentication, and launched a new website within days.
The result. Owner-controlled domain and email, and a new site live.
Workers' comp audits and renewals
The job. Close out insurance audits and line up renewals.
What I did. Built the audit packets for two audit periods, wrote a one-page coverage summary and a quote request for agents, and updated the auto policy's driver list.
The result. Audit packets delivered, and the auto renewal bound.
Utility customer requirements
The job. Meet a utility customer's supplier and site documentation requirements.
What I did. Completed the supplier sustainability assessment and prepared GIS site maps, walkdown reports, site access forms and a field checklist.
The result. Checklist approved by the utility's field lead. Work kept moving.
Licenses kept current
The job. Keep commercial applicator licenses active in two states.
What I did. Tracked credits and renewal dates and followed up with the licensing agency.
The result. Renewals confirmed for the coming year.
Books, payroll and tax time
The job. Payroll and books that tie out for the CPA and for government filings.
What I did. Monthly payroll packets, QuickBooks reconciliations and reports, and a quarterly payroll tax filing plan.
The result. Records ready for the accountant, with payroll summaries that match the filings.
Safety and HR records
The job. Have safety and people records ready whenever customers and insurers ask.
What I did. Incident reports, a substance-free workplace response for a customer, a field safety course, job hazard forms and a hiring rubric.
The result. Records delivered on request from one organized system.
Site screening with GIS
The job. Find the best sites for growth.
What I did. Screened 62 candidate sites with GIS and a scoring model, ranked the top tier, and built an owner call list.
The result. A ranked short list of top sites to pursue first.
